Liniar sponsorship boost for Ripley Town FC’s Under 12s

Ripley Town FC’s under 12s team have begun their campaign in Division 4 of the Young Elizabethan League and they will be proudly sporting one of the country’s most up-and-coming brands on their shirts for the next two seasons.

Denby-based firm HL Plastics are the company behind the Liniar brand of PVCu windows, doors and conservatories, which is quickly becoming recognised throughout homes across Britain, and they’re delighted to be supporting the local youth team.

Originally formed as Ripley Rangers FC in 2011 to provide an opportunity for young players to get involved in football in the area, they have since gone from strength-to-strength, already exceeding the expectations of the founding members.

The club has recently merged with Ripley Town Football Club, running a team in most age groups, from Under 7s all the way up to adult, including teams for both boys and girls, also incorporating an academy for children under five.

Coached by Lee Stuart, the Under 12s found themselves in desperate need of a new sponsor earlier this year and contacted the uncle of one of their young stars for help.

Carl Buckley, one of more than 400 people employed at HL Plastics and whose nephew Jack Parker is a member of the squad, was asked if the respected firm would be interested in sponsoring the young team.

“I asked the CEO here, Roger Hartshorn, and he was delighted to be able to help,” said Carl. “Roger and HL are always keen to be involved with local groups and events, so he jumped at the chance to get involved with such a talented bunch of lads.”

The club’s Child Welfare Officer, Cheryl Chrich, commented: “We are extremely grateful for the financial backing that HL Plastics have given us - and the Liniar logo on the new shirts looks great!”

Run entirely by volunteers, Ripley Town FC is a family friendly club and has already forged close links with Derby County, managing to access significant funding from various local businesses and councillors to help develop even further.

About HL Plastics

HL Plastics Ltd designs and manufactures PVCu extrusions at its state-of-the-art factory and mixing plant in Denby. HLP is a company which has seen substantial growth in the UK manufacturing sector in spite of the recent recession – in no small part due to the launch of the Liniar range of lead-free PVCu windows, doors and conservatories in 2008. Operating in the heart of Derbyshire, HLP celebrated its 40th birthday in 2014.

Entrepreneur Roger Hartshorn commenced his career on the shop floor at HL Plastics and is now Managing Director. The Liniar brand’s creator, Roger was voted number 3 in the Window Industries’ Top 30 Most Influential list in 2013, and features in The Manufacturer 2014 Top 100 influential individuals in UK manufacturing.

The Flamstead Group of companies, which owns HL Plastics and the Liniar brand, has been included in the prestigious London Stock Exchange’s first two editions of their book “1000 Companies to Inspire Britain”, and was acquired by US corporation Quanex Building Products in June 2015.

HL Plastics also won the Growing Business of the Year 2014 award for mid-sized companies at the esteemed GBA national business awards in November 2014.

The factory played host to PM David Cameron in May 2014, who held a Q&A session with 150 staff and praised the team for its innovation and growth (watch the video at http://www.liniar.co.uk/videos/the-prime-minister-visits-hl-plastics/). In addition, HL Plastics was selected by BBC News to take part in the main story of the day on 27th July 2015, in a report about an increase in the UK’s quarterly GDP results and the success driven by manufacturing firms now the recession is over.

With over 400 jobs created in the Derbyshire area (500 across the Flamstead Group), the company continues to grow and add to the local economy. HL Plastics also has a long history of offering career development through apprenticeship schemes and training.
